For sleeping and around the house
Cache Coeur Illusion Seamless Maternity Nursing Bra is my favorite nursing bra for the house and sleeping. It comes in small/medium or medium/large. It is really comfortable, seamless, cute and decently supportive. I have two -- one black and one purple. It is stretchy (almost like a thin workout material) and runs slightly small (the M/L isn't that big).
Bravado! Designs Essential Nursing Bra Tank is comfortable and comes in bra sizes.
Hands Free Pumping Bra
I really like the PumpEase hands-free pumping bra. It is comfortable and comes in nice patterns. I prefer it over the popular Medela Easy Expression Hands-Free Bustier.
I would avoid white or cream as they show breast milk and nipple cream stains.
- A pumping bra needs to be snug to work properly, so I suggest that you size down.
Supportive Nursing Bras
- I bought various nursing bras (including Bravado) and didn't find any to be really supportive and they lost elasticity quickly (washing cold/gentle in a lingerie bag and hanging to dry). When S was just under 2 months I went to Orchard Street Corset Shop, and per their recommendation got normal bras and had them converted (for $10 each) to nursing bras by a woman in Brooklyn. I mailed them to her with a postage paid return envelope and she sent them back pretty quickly. Orchard Street’s prices are a few dollars less than retail.
Best Layering Tank
This tank has nothing to do with nursing, but it is worth a mention as it is my hands down favorite tank. It is virtually weightless, so it adds no bulk and it is silky, so clothes don't stick to it. I use it if my neckline is low or if my shirt is too sheer. It comes in black and nude. I've been wearing one under my work clothes almost every day for about four years!
